To meet SafeWork NSW changes to state demolition licensing, you must now hold nationally accredited units of competency to be eligible to work as a nominated supervisor for a NSW Demolition licence holder or to apply for a Demolition Licence.

Who is this program for?

This program is designed for experienced demolition workers with more than 3 years experience. You should be currently employed with and have access to workplace documents which include your name as the Leading Hand, Site Supervisor or similar.

 

What licence might I apply for or apply to be added onto after this program?

There are two types of demolition licences this certification is require for:

  1. a demolition licence (DE1)
  2. a restricted demolition licence (DE2)

Demolition licence (DE1)

This licence is required to demolish (or partially demolish), any building, structure or installation that:

  • is over 15 metres in height
  • is a chemical installation
  • involves a tower crane on site
  • involves a mobile crane with a rated capacity of more than 100 tonnes
  • has structural components that are pre-tensioned or post-tensioned
  • involves floor propping
  • involves explosives.

Restricted demolition licence (DE2)

This licence is required to demolish (or partially demolish), any building, structure or installation that:

  • is between four metres and 15 metres in height involving mechanical demolition such as using excavators, bulldozers or cranes
  • is between 10 metres and 15 metres in height and affects its structural integrity
  • involves the use of load shifting machinery on suspended floors

Who is this program designed for?

This program is designed for experienced demolition workers with more than 3 years experience. You should be currently employed with and have access to workplace documents which include your name as the Leading Hand, Site Supervisor or similar.

Most applicants into this program are seeking addition to or to obtain their own DE2 Demolition Licence. To meet these requirements you must have evidence of experience for at least 3 demolition jobs covering every category on the licence application covering a 3-year period – these must not be more than 5 years old which must include Safe Work Method Statements and should include other authentic evidence types.

How long will it take to complete?
Successful applicants complete this program in between 2 – 12 months.

TImelines are dependent on the success of RPL Applications and Training & Assessment Plans for your individual circumstance.

Units of Competency
Effective 1 January 2016, SafeWork NSW approve 11 units of competency from the Certificate III in Demolition (CPC30413) and Certificate IV in Demolition (CPC41013) which meet the training requirements for individual applicants and supervisors nominated in a new application.

To enter this program you must also hold a 12th Unit of Competency which is also included in the list below.

These units are:

CPCCWHS2001 Apply OHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry
CPCCDE3016 Identify hazards on demolition sites and apply risk management strategies
CPCCDE3018 Select and use small plant and equipment for demolition tasks
CPCCDE3019 Demolish small buildings and structure using hand tools and small plant equipment
CPCCDE3020 Select and use tools and equipment for hot work in the demolition industry
CPCCDE3022 Manage demolition recyclable and waste materials using load shifting equipment
CPCCBC4002 Manage occupational health and safety in the building and construction workplace
CPCCBC4012 Read and interpret plans and specifications
CPCCDE4001 Plan and prepare for activities on demolition sites
CPCCDE4002 Plan and supervise demolition work to minimise environmental and public health and safety impact
CPCCDE4003 Supervise individual activities on demolition sites
CPCCDE4004 Finalise demolition activities and supervise property handover

Please note that Effective 1 January 2019, SafeWork NSW no longer accept any the existing NAT Training qualifications as meeting the requirements of approved training.

Upon being found Competent of all Assessment Tasks PM2 PTY LTD T/A PM SQUARED RTO 41304 will issue your Statement of Attainment outlining each Unit of Competency you have been found Competent.
