About

You must have a licence before you do any residential building work in NSW, including Underpinning & Piering, that is valued at more than $5000 (incl GST) in labour and materials.

Excavating means removing earth or rock down to a previously decided level or excavation line, to form a hole or trench for structural supports, for building walls or floors, or for structural landscaping work.

This program is designed for experienced civil construction managers with more than 3 years experience undertaking underpinning & piering works. You should be currently employed with and have access to workplace documents and project information.

Underpinning and piering are classified as trade work. In NSW, various licence types are available based on your role—whether contracting, supervising, performing the work, or combining these roles.

Contractor Licence

A contractor licence permits you to contract for and advertise work. You are restricted to performing only the types of work specified on your licence card. This licence can be issued to individuals, companies, and partnerships. Options for the duration of the licence include 1, 3, or 5 years..

Qualified Supervisor Certificate

A qualified supervisor certificate authorizes you to supervise and perform the specified work. These certificates are exclusively issued to individuals and do not permit you to contract for work. You can choose to have the certificate issued for 1, 3, or 5 years.

Most applicants into this program will go onto attain their Endorsed Contractors Licence or Qualified Supervisor Certificate immediately after completion.
