§1 — The learner's authorised task
Read, interpret and explain BP-01. Prepare the source register, nominated readings, discrepancy report and project brief. During a separately arranged observation, select/use required PPE, orientate the plan and locate nominated boundary, feature and service-reference markers. No construction, excavation, cutting, plant operation or service disturbance is part of this task.
§2 — Roles and reporting
The learner works within the agreed task under the training supervisor. The supervisor supplies documents, receives requests for information (RFIs) and issues controlled exercise responses. The assessor observes and records individual performance; the authorised assessor decides the assessment outcome.
For an RFI, record project ID, date, each source identifier/revision/location, the conflicting or missing information, affected task and clear clarification request. Submit it through the assessor's designated exercise channel. Retain the response's ID/date, record the confirmed information and explain its effect on your brief. The local observation supervisor/contact and submission channel must be named before the event.
§3 — Proposed observation entry and PPE
The draft walking/plan-reading simulation stipulates safety footwear with toe protection and a high-visibility vest. Before the event, the actual supervisor must assess hazards, confirm site entry/induction, provide the final PPE schedule and add any required PPE. Learners check that instruction, select the required equipment and wear/use it correctly. The draft schedule does not override the actual work-area requirements.
Prerequisite verification and applicable construction induction/site-entry checks are separate organisational records. Do not enter a real construction site on the authority of this pack.
§4 — Plan/site orientation and references
Use the plan's north arrow with the supervisor-confirmed south-frontage and boundary references. Align the plan and explain the relationship to the physical work area. Locate the nominated corner markers, G01, EA1, PW01 endpoints, DP01, WM01 and T01 protected-zone markers using the plan and associated information. The assessor chooses the required locations from this set and records what is actually observed.
WM01 and the dashed W route are reference information with unknown service depth/live/isolation status. Identify them only from safe access. The actual site service procedure and supervisor confirmation govern any verification; no excavation or interference is allowed. Simulated markers must be labelled as such.
§5 — Differences, safety and environmental checks
If a reference is missing, the plan and site disagree, an instruction is unclear, or a safety/environmental constraint cannot be met: stop the affected activity, make the area safe within your role, report the precise issue and wait for the supervisor's instruction. Apply BP-ENV101 without moving controls or guessing an alternative route. A practical record must describe what occurred, including assistance and interruptions.
