Construction drawings / SO01 site office

Architectural teaching specification

SO-SP01R0117 October 2026BP-01 / SO01

Fictional training document. Use the edition assigned by your assessor. Not for construction or site access.

1 - Scope and document relationships

SO01 is a proposed 5000 x3000 site office containing R01 Office and R02 Entry/store. Read this specification with SO-A101/A201/A301/A401 and SO-SC01. Check each document against SO-IR01. Report conflicting information before relying on it.

SO01 describes the office. Read BP-01 for the yard and path requirements. No real building works, service connection, occupation or site access is authorised.

2 - Stipulated materials

TagReading requirementTechnical limitation
EC01Lightweight external wall envelope with painted fibre-cement sheet cladding and internal P01 lining. Overall schematic wall zone100 thick.Framing, cavity, insulation, membrane, fixings, weatherproofing and structural capacity are not designed. The100 zone is not a proprietary compliant wall assembly.
RF01Pre-finished metal sheet mono-pitch roof; low at south103.300, high at north103.600.Profile, support spacing, pitch suitability, condensation, insulation, flashings, gutters and drainage connection require design.
SL01Nominal100 concrete slab illustrated for layer reading; topFFL100.300.No concrete grade, reinforcement, ground-bearing, edge beam or footing system is approved.
D/W openingsUse the individual SO-SC01 rows for nominal sizes/materials/operation.Hardware, clear openings, safety glazing, fire/energy performance and installation details remain unresolved.
F/P/C finishesUse the room allocation and finish definitions in SO-SC01.Performance and product suitability must be reviewed before any procurement or real work.

3 - Workmanship and source-reading quality requirements

For this fictional specification, finish substrates must be prepared for the selected compatible system. Paint uses the P01/C01 colour and two finish coats over a compatible primer. Keep finish changes at the nominated room boundary; record the source tag when describing an instruction. These are requirements to identify, not proof that work has been done.

Inspect a later proposed product or workmanship record against the agreed project requirements and the applicable manufacturer instructions. This set supplies no manufactured product approval, numerical workmanship tolerance, inspection result or acceptance certificate.

4 - Information that must be resolved

  • The office abuts EA2's north edge. D01 faces EA2; the drawing does not establish a built connection.
  • SO01 FFL 100.300 is 285 mm above EA2's stated centreline level 100.015. Read the apron crossfall in BP-01. A compliant landing, approach and threshold have not been designed.
  • The indicative water route at E10500 is 500 mm east of the office's eastern outside face. This offset is a reading fact, not a service clearance or permission to excavate.
  • Read BP-01 for PW01 dimensions, joint layout, levels and environmental controls. SO01 describes the proposed office; it does not specify changes to the path.
  • These documents do not establish structural adequacy, foundations, services, drainage connection, fire, energy, ventilation, accessible access or building approval.

Also unresolved: applicable building classification, occupation, amenities, means of egress, ventilation, fire, accessibility, energy performance, structural design and approvals. Reading a drawing does not settle those design decisions.

5 - Record and report a discrepancy

In learning practice, name the sheet, revision, tag/location, conflicting or missing information, and the consequence for interpretation. Ask your trainer to review your reading. For assessed BP-01 work use the actual P01 RFI process in the LMS; do not substitute this teaching supplement or invent a response from a project authority.
